Please join us at FRAIM for one of the engaging talks by Markus Rittenbruch! In this talk, Dr Markus Rittenbruch will introduce research conducted at the Australian Cobotics Centre (ACC), an Industrial Transformation Training Centre funded by the Australian Government. The Centre integrates PhD researchers into industrial settings to support industry-aligned research in Human-Robot Collaboration (HRC). The presentation will highlight several ACC research projects, with a focus on design-led approaches to HRC and human interaction. These include co-designing collaborative soldering robots, developing a physical robot prototyping toolkit, and exploring relational and collaborative perspectives in robotics research. Feel free to join us in person, or via the teams link.

About Dr Markus Rittenbruch

Dr Markus Rittenbruch is a full Professor in Interaction Design and Academic Lead for Research at the School of Design, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia. He is a Chief Investigator and Program Co-Lead for Human-Robot Interaction at the Australian Cobotics Centre, and a Design Expert at the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Hub.

With over 30 years of professional experience, Markus has worked across Interaction Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). He has held research positions at leading institutions in Germany and Australia, including the University of Bonn, the University of Queensland (UQ) the Australasian CRC for Interaction Design (ACID), NICTA, Australia’s National ICT Research Centre (now CSIRO/Data61), and QUT, where he has worked since 2010.

Markus is passionate about the role of design in shaping emerging technologies and fostering meaningful human-technology relationships. He is particularly drawn to research that involves end-users in the development of new systems and explores how design can support collaboration, participation, and new ways of interacting with robots. His work is driven by a commitment to interdisciplinary inquiry and the belief that design has a critical role to play in addressing complex technological and societal challenges.
